# Session Introduction

> This module introduces Microsoft Azures core services and architecture best practices for building, deploying, and managing applications and infrastructure.

Welcome to the Azure Fundamentals series! In this module, we’ll lay the groundwork for understanding Microsoft Azure by diving into its core services and architecture best practices. You’ll discover how Azure enables organizations to build, deploy, and manage applications and infrastructure in a scalable, resilient, and secure manner.

## What You’ll Learn

* **Azure Landing Zone**\
  Establish a prescriptive framework with architecture guidance and best practices for a secure, compliant, and scalable foundation.
* **Azure Compute Fundamentals**\
  Compare compute options—from Virtual Machines and Azure Functions to container orchestrators like Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
* **Azure Storage Fundamentals**\
  Explore reliable, highly available storage services such as Blob Storage, File Storage, and Queue Storage for various data needs.
* **Azure Networking & Security Fundamentals**\
  Learn how Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and Azure Firewall work together to enforce secure connectivity.
* **Azure Database Offerings**\
  Review managed database solutions for relational, NoSQL, and in-memory workloads, including Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and Azure Cache for Redis.
