# Course Introduction

> Beginner-friendly Docker course introducing containers, images, networking, volumes, troubleshooting, and browser-based hands-on labs with interactive quizzes and practical demos.

Welcome to the [Docker Training Course for the Absolute Beginner](https://learn.kodekloud.com/user/courses/docker-training-course-for-the-absolute-beginner).\
I'm Mumshad Mannambeth, and I'll be your instructor on this course designed to introduce Docker, container fundamentals, and practical workflows through clear explanations, demos, and hands-on practice.

This course uses illustrations, animations, and real-world analogies to simplify core concepts. Each lesson includes short demos showing how to install and run Docker, plus browser-based hands-on labs that let you practice in a real environment.

  Our hands-on labs provide instant, browser-accessible terminals connected to a live Docker host and an interactive quiz portal. Practice tasks such as launching containers, inspecting images, and troubleshooting issues — the quiz portal validates your work and gives immediate feedback.

What makes this course effective

* Focused for beginners: Concepts are broken down progressively from basic to practical.
* Visual learning: Diagrams and animations reinforce key ideas.
* Instant practice: Labs run in your browser — no local setup required.
* Continuous validation: Quiz portal verifies your work and provides feedback.

What you'll learn (high level)

| Topic | What you'll get |
| - | - |
| Docker basics | What containers are, images vs containers, and how Docker works |
| Images & registries | Building, pulling, tagging, and pushing images |
| Containers | Running, stopping, and inspecting containers |
| Volumes & networking | Persisting data and connecting containers |
| Troubleshooting | Logs, exec into containers, and common fixes |
| Hands-on labs | Browser-based tasks and instant validation via the quiz portal |

Hands-on lab experience
We provide real labs you can access from any browser as often as you like. Each lab session includes:

* A terminal connected to a Docker host
* A lab environment with preconfigured resources
* An interactive quiz portal that checks your solution and returns instant feedback

Typical terminal sessions you might see in the labs:

```bash theme={null}
~ → docker ps
CONTAINER ID    IMAGE    COMMAND    CREATED    STATUS    PORTS    NAMES
~ → clear
```

Every lesson is paired with interactive quizzes that encourage practice and reinforce learning. Example image and container management tasks you might encounter are shown below:

```bash theme={null}
~ ➜ docker images
REPOSITORY                             TAG       IMAGE ID       CREATED        SIZE
Getting started tips
* Follow the lessons in order to build a solid foundation.
* Use the labs to apply concepts immediately — trial and error accelerates learning.
* Read container logs and use `docker ps`, `docker inspect`, and `docker logs` to understand behavior.
* Try building small images and running simple services (e.g., Nginx, Redis) to experiment with networking and volumes.
