Welcome to this hands-on lab where we’ll guide you through setting up a free Azure account. You’ll receive a 30-day trial and $200 in Azure credits. If you already have an Azure or GCP account, feel free to use it; otherwise, follow these steps to get started.
Prerequisites

Step 1: Access the Azure Free Trial Page
- Open your browser and go to the Azure Free Account page.
- Click Start free or Try Azure for free.
Step 2: Sign In or Create a Microsoft Account
- If you already have an account, select Sign in.
- Otherwise, click Create one! and complete the registration form.
Step 3: Complete Your Profile
- Enter your name, address, and mobile number.
- When you receive the SMS code, enter it to verify your phone.
Note
Your phone number is used strictly for SMS verification—Microsoft will not call you.
Step 4: Verify Your Payment Method
- Add your credit or debit card details.
- Azure uses this only for identity verification. No charges will be applied automatically during your trial.
Warning
After your 30-day trial or once your $200 credit is used up, Azure will disable all services. To continue using Azure, you must upgrade your subscription. Otherwise, no charges will occur.

Once verification is complete, you’ll land on the Azure welcome page:
From here, you can:
- Book an expert-led demo or join a live Q&A.
- Go directly to the Azure portal to begin creating resources.

What’s Next
Explore deploying infrastructure with an ARM template. For example, you can spin up a Linux VM, then install Kubernetes, Jenkins, and other tools directly on that VM.
Enjoy your $200 credit over the first 30 days. If you decide to continue after the trial, any usage will be charged to your card. Otherwise, Azure will automatically disable your services—no charge to you.
